Sharing Inspiration and Stoke
Found some film gems on the line, thought you might like them too.
I love finding videos online that completely surprise me.
You know the type:
They seem interesting, but you’re not sure, so you start watching the first bit.
And you’re completely blown away.
The cinematography, the subject matter, the people, the locations.
The realness.
That good vibe afterwards when you feel inspired and better off for having witnessed it.
So, this week, instead of sharing what’s been happening here in the upper Simmental Valley in Switzerland (lots of rain, fyi), I would like to share three of my recent such finds with you.
Let’s go!
1. Calypte - a Sailing and Surfing Voyage
This documentary film follows the journey of two people sailing a yacht from the east coast of Thailand to eastern Indonesia.
Without sailing experience.
What was supposed to be a trip of a few months turned into a year long odyssey. They learn, surf, sail and adventure their way to the end.
The filming and storytelling is amazing, I really enjoyed it.
Especially as someone who grew up surfing and have crossed many oceans under sail in the past.
This film definitely had me longing for the horizon and what lies beyond it, well worth the time investment to watch.
Watch it above, or check it out here.
2. Pogo - The Hidden Faces of Romania | Short Ski Movie
I love ski touring, mountains and snow.
Moving through the mountains in winter under my own steam is truly special, even more so in out of the way and not so well known places.
Wild places.
And this is what this film is all about.
A part of the series from the crew at Hidden Faces, they aim to ski out of the way and untouched places. It follows the story of a local skier in a remote valley in Romania, who loves ski touring and sharing the stoke.
Having stumbled onto this one by chance, I’m very glad I did, because I now want to go ski in Romania!
Watch it above, or check it out here.
3. The 90 Year Old Cyclist | A Short Documentary
A life portrait of the film maker’s grand father and his love for cycling.
Florent Piovesan really did a superb job with this short film.
It’s beautiful in how it shows his grand father’s cycling progression through the years (he only started after retirement), the family connections, the passion.
I have done a lot of cycling, and am a passionate two wheel enthusiast, but even if you’re not, it’s still worth the watch purely for the joie de vivre.

Right, that’s it for this week, let me know what you think of the films!
