As a kid my grandparents lived in Kenya - as a pre teen, I got 3 great holidays out there. Beautiful country and wildlife; memories forever. More aware as I got older just how much poverty there was though - far far worse now. Streetview now tells me the gate to their old house now has security signs and cameras all over it (welcome to the 21st century). I have friends in the Glarus area of Switzerland. Another beautiful country.
Hey Phil, that sounds pretty awesome having experienced that. Contrasted with Switzerland it is certainly on the two extremes. The poverty discussion is a wide and varied one, not to be dismissed, but as you say the country itself is beautiful, which is what anyone can experience in Africa if you can learn to live in a more dynamic way adapting to constant changes. To each their own, of course. I’m familiar with the Glarus region in Switzerland, beautiful too, although I’m more partial to our little valley in the upper Simmental 😊🤷🏼♂️!
